General Statement

Bryant University is committed to protecting the privacy of its students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends. The University acknowledges the confidential nature of information it receives in the ordinary course of business involving these groups of individuals. The University is dedicated to ensuring the privacy and proper handling of private and restricted information of these individuals. The University shall limit the collection, use, disclosure and storage of personal information to that which reasonably serves the University's academic and administrative functions, or other legally required purposes. Such collection, use, disclosure and storage shall comply with applicable federal and state laws and regulations, and University process and procedures.

Email

The University does not monitor the contents of email sent to or from University servers, except to identify and correct problems with email delivery or receipt or to investigate security related activity. Electronic logs of email sent and received through University servers is maintained for a short period of time. This information, stored on a temporary basis, may only be released if; a) legally mandated by law enforcement investigators, b) required by court proceedings, or c) it is deemed necessary to internal investigations of violations of University process and procedures.

Family Educational Rights and Privacy

The European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a European Union (EU) legal framework for data privacy and security of personal data for individuals within the EU. The GDPR sets forth obligations for organizations that collect, use, share, and store personal data of constituents who reside in the European Union. The University is committed to securing the appropriate consent (“opt-in”) in the collection and processing of personal data. At any time, you may object to the collection, use and retention of your personal data, on legitimate grounds, except if otherwise permitted by applicable law. The University shall consider all GDPR requirements of notice, choice, onward transfer, security, data integrity, and access.
