IP Phone Guide
Softkeys show at the bottom of your LCD screen and change depending on the status of your phone (i.e. new incoming call, on a call, call is on hold, etc.)
Transferring a Call
To another extension:
- With the caller on the line, press the Transfer softkey. (this puts the call on hold)
- Dial the number you want to transfer the call to.
- When it rings, either press the Transfer softkey again, or when the party answers, announce the call and then press the Transfer softkey again.
- If the party refuses the call, press the End Call softkey and then press the Resume softkey to return to the original call.
Directly into voicemail:
- With the caller on the line, press the Transfer softkey. (this puts the call on hold)
- Dial * and the extension you want to send the call to.
- Press the Transfer softkey again, and hang up.
Call Forwarding
To forward to your voicemail:
- Press the CFwdAll softkey. You should hear two beeps.
- Press the messages button (the button with a picture of an envelope)
To forward to another number:
- Press the CFwdAll softkey. You should hear two beeps.
- Enter the number to which you want to forward all of your calls.
Note: If there is no answer at the forwarded number, the call will be sent back to your voicemail.
When your calls are forwarded, you will see an animated phone icon with a flashing right arrow appear in the upper-right corner of the LCD screen. You will also see a message confirming the number or extension to which your calls are being forwarded.
To cancel call forwarding, simply press the CFwdAll softkey.
Putting a Call on Hold
- If you want to put a call on hold, press the Hold softkey.
- If you want to resume a call on hold, press the Resume softkey.
- If you have multiple calls on hold, use the arrow buttons to select the desired call before you press Resume.
- If you are on a call and want to put that call on hold to answer an incoming call on the same line, Answer the new call by pressing the Answer softkey. If you do not see the Answer softkey, press the arrow keys to select the incoming call and pressing the select button. Note: This will automatically put the existing call on hold.
- If you are on a call and want to put that call on hold while an incoming call is ringing on the same line, BUT you don’t want to answer it, use the arrow keys to select the call you are currently on. You will now see a Hold softkey. Press the Hold softkey.
Placing a Conference Call
- During a call, press the more softkey and then the Confrn softkey.
- Doing so automatically activates a new line and puts the first party on hold.
- Place a call to another number or extension.
- When the call connects, press Confrn again to add the new party to the conference call.
Repeat these steps to add up to 8 parties to the conference call. Once the conference call initiator disconnects, no additional parties can be added. You can drop the last party added by pressing the RmLstC softkey.
Voicemail from Off Campus
To access voicemail from off campus, call 401-319-3999. Press the * star key, enter your extension, and press the # pound key. You will then be prompted for your pin number.
